If you’re looking for a new table saw and your budget is a primary concern, then there’s a strong argument that can be made for reconditioned products.
Reconditioned products are items that have been returned to the manufacturer, inspected and made ready for sale, then relisted at an affordable price.
In this review, we’ll be looking at the Ryobi ZRRTS10G 15 Amp 10 in. Table Saw. It is certified refurbished and comes with a steel stand, meaning that it should have everything needed to get going, right out of the box.
It’s not likely that this unit is going to compete with more expensive saws, but that’s not really what it is intended for. If you need functionality and reliability, and can stand a few compromises, then this could be the saw for you.

Who Has This Tool Been Designed For?
Priced in the absolute entry level of the market, this tool is clearly aimed at home DIY users and hobby woodworkers who wish to use a table saw for a variety of projects.
Despite its small size and low price, it still manages to come through with some decent features, and a motor that is competitive with some more expensive saws.
Trim work, cabinet making, shelving, and general carpentry are all ideal purposes for this saw. While it could technically be used on a job site, professionals would be severely limited by the small table and rip capacity on this unit.
Frequency of Use – How Long Will It Run For?
This is not a tool that should be run continuously throughout the day to cut wood, but that is not to say that it can’t complete a work day of intermittent jobs.
For moderate use in a home workshop or on a simple remodeling project, this saw won’t have problems meeting user demands.
The 15-amp motor is standard for 10-inch table saws, including some models that are priced far above the Ryobi ZRRTS10G. For the target market, frequency of use should not become an issue with this saw.
How Portable is this Table Saw?
When not mounted to the stand, this table saw is easily as light as competing models, even those that are well into the $300 – $400 price range.
The problem for owners is that the stand doesn’t have a quick release assembly, so to be truly portable it will need to be manually removed from the stand. The stand is made from lightweight steel, and in total the tool weighs in at 50.1 lb.
Due to the entry level nature of the product, this tool is not likely to be trucked around to different jobsites.
The low weight means that it can quite easily be moved around a home workshop, which means that it should be portable enough for the purposes of the intended market segment. If necessary, third party stands could be used, such as a wheel stand, or a scissor or gravity rise stand.
Are There Specific Power Source Requirements?
As is common in lightweight 10-inch table saws, an electric 15 AMP motor is used.
This means that a 20 AMP outlet should be used to power this tool. Overloading will be a problem if this is used at the same time as other power tools, such as another saw, or a large compressor.
Extension cables can be used, but should not exceed 50 ft. in length. At 50 ft., the cable should be AWG 12 gauge, and cables of 25 ft. should be AWG 14 gauge. The saw runs on 120C, AC, which is the standardized rating for North America. The safety plug configuration means that it can only be connected to a 120V grounded outlet.
What is the Performance Rating of This Table Saw?
Potential compromises were mentioned earlier in this review.
When it comes to performance, this definitely performs like an entry level saw. Even with high quality blades, this saw will only be able to feed hardwoods at a slow rate.
This can result in wood burns, which may be a problem depending on what the material will be used for. When used for softer woods, composites like MDF, and ply, the saw will perform without problems. This again reinforces the fact that this is a tool designed for home DIY and hobby users.
What is the Cutting (Rip) Capacity?
At this price, it would be unreasonable to expect a large table surface with a high rip capacity.
Instead, Ryobi offers rip capacity of 13-3/4” to the right side of the blade, and around 9-3/4” to the left side of the blade.
This is definitely on the low side, considering there are 10” inch portable saws that can approach 30” without going off of the table, however, it needs to again be kept in mind that this is a basic entry level tool that is aimed at a hobby and DIY market.
Providing that owners know the limitations of what the tool has to offer, the smaller rip capacity shouldn’t be a major issue.
Rip Fence Quality – How Does It Compare to Other Models?
The rip fence is definitely a low point of the entire package. It’s an aluminum and plastic piece that uses a simple clamping method to secure to the table.
This is not necessarily unusual, and there are even some more expensive tools that use a similar design. The problem is that the fence on the Ryobi has been harshly reviewed by both critics and owners of the device.
It can take some trial and error to get it properly aligned, and it usually needs resetting after every cut. This can waste time and will be a definite nuisance when ripping multiple pieces of material that differ in length. This is one area where the price of the unit truly does reflect what is received in the package.
Is There a Dust Collection System?
Dust is ejected directly below the unit, and there is no plastic shroud or ejection port to connect to an external bag or shop vacuum system. This is another compromise that may be problematic for some owners, but considering the price, the lack of this feature can be expected.
In real world working scenarios, dust accumulation should not be a big issue, as the dust will collect under the table. If it is removed from the stand and mounted to a bench, then dust buildup would be more of a problem, and the inside of the plastic body would need to be cleaned regularly.
What Safety Features Has Ryobi Used?
Thankfully, safety is not an area where the designers have cut corners. As with all modern compact table saws, the ZRRTS10G includes a blade guard, a riving knife, anti-kickback pawls, and there’s even a push stick included in the package to make it safer when feeding material towards the blade.
The switch assembly is another important safety feature that Ryobi has used. A small plastic key is included in the package, and the switch cannot be moved into the ‘on’ position without this key being inserted into the assembly.
This is a great feature for home workshops as it eliminates accidental startups, and can prevent tampering or accidents with children who may find their way into a garage or other work space.
Are There Maintenance Requirements
All moving parts need to be lubricated with general purpose tool grease, and the entire table saw should be kept free of any dust accumulation.
The motor itself is sealed and lubricated, so will be able to provide years of service lifetime. Dust buildup will be the main problem for owners, and the underside of the table should regularly be checked and cleaned.
Other minor adjustments to the tool may be necessary, and all maintenance is outlined in the comprehensive user manual. Overall, the unit will be simple to maintain, even for owners who have little experience with table saws or power tools in general.
Ease of Use
The basic operation of a table saw is relatively straightforward, and in this respect, the Ryobi is as easy to use as any other similar portable table saw.
However, there are some problems with construction quality that can make operation problematic at times. The miter gauge is of low quality and doesn’t fit exactly in the miter slot.
Unfortunately, the miter slot is not of a standard size, so finding replacements will be an issue. The need to regularly adjust and check the rip fence also takes away from the usability. Many owners have noted that this tool is not suitable for cuts that need absolute precision, and with the quality of the miter gauge and fence, this can be confirmed.
While the tool is not overly difficult to operate, some of its shortfalls will become frustrating as owners outgrow this entry level saw.
General Construction Quality
Being a refurbished unit, some examples of the XRRTS10G will not be immaculate when received out of the box.
Minor scratches and scuffs may be present on the body of the table saw, but these won’t impact the overall sturdiness or operation. The legs of the stand are made from a sturdy steel material, and the table itself is aluminum, with some plastic elements.
Some plastic moving parts are used, however, Ryobi has used metal parts where construction matters the most. The design of the table is a balance of quality, light weight, and cost effective materials.
It’s a quality unit for the price, but it cannot be compared to a more expensive table saw. Ryobi advertises the saw as being a quality tool that is designed for long lifetime, but some of the moving parts may begin to wear over time, and this is something that new owners should keep in mind.
Are Accessories Included?
Standard accessories are included, and when assembled the saw will be ready to be used for basic ripping jobs.

Assembly instructions are detailed, and detailed illustrations are used to make the adjustment and assembly process as easy as possible.
- Extremely low price point.
- Good cutting quality for light materials.
- Includes basic accessories.
- Standard North American power requirements.

Tips for New Owners
Potential owners should make certain that their future needs will not exceed the capabilities of this saw.
The small rip capacity will be limiting for larger cuts, and the miter gauge is not upgradeable due to a non-standard miter groove.
Professionals should not expect to use this saw for intensive work or difficult materials.
Consumer ratings on the largest ecommerce website have awarded a total score of 4/5 stars from over 70 reviews.
This saw can be purchased below $100 with additional shipping costs, making it highly cost competitive.

Recommended Extra Accessories
As an entry level unit, this table is not compatible with standardized accessories that would work with some more expensive table saws.
A blade upgrade is a necessity to ensure easy and accurate cuts.
One option for a high quality general purpose blade is the Concord 80 tooth, 10-inch blade.
Shipping & Packing
Shipping is not included in the price, so buyers should factor any shipping costs into their purchasing decision. Although all accessories and the manual will be included in sturdy packaging, refurbished units may come in plain brown or white cardboard packaging.

Our Ryobi ZRRTS10G Review: Final Thoughts
There are definitely negative aspects that have been mentioned in this Ryobi ZRRTS10G 15 Amp 10 in. Table Saw with Steel Stand review, but there are also some positives to take away.
At an entry level price point, this tool compares favorably with similarly priced units. It shares many of the parts and design features as the Craftsman Evolv, and both tools originate from the same OEM manufacturer.
For home users who want to do hobby woodworking or basic DIY, the table saw will be able to perform. It’s not a professional tool and should not be mistaken as such, but for the price, the majority of existing owners and many new owners will be pleasantly satisfied with what it has to offer.
